TKU Alumni Office

The office of Alumni Service and Resources Development started its operation on August 1, 1995. It comprises three sections: (1) The Graduate Placement Service Section (established on August 1, 1986 under the office of the Secretariat and has come under the office of Student Affairs since August 1, 2000); (2) The Alumni Liaison Section (established on August 1, 1993 under the office of the Secretariat); and (3) The Fund-Raising Section (established on August 1, 1995). The office currently has one director, one secretary, and five staff members. Guided by the University's educational ideas, the overall policy of "globalization, information- and future-oriented education", it also serves as a bridge between the university and the alumni, promoting fund contribution from alumni, business circles, and enthusiastic supporters of the University in her drive toward academic excellence.

Features of Alumni Liaison Activities:

To promote liaison among the alumni, the following associations have been organized:

In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, a total of 23 alumni associations in local cities or counties, 31 alumni associations overseas, 7 alumni associations in Mainland China, and 59 alumni associations in all departments and graduate programs on campus were established. On November 7, 1996 the Federation of World Tamkang University Alumni Association, and the Tamkang University Association of Alumni in Education were both founded. Shortly after that, the ROC Tamkang University Alumni Association Headquarters was founded on December 27, 1997. 

Over the years, the TKU has assembled a large family of 270,000 alumni that span over all corners of the world. With 149 different chapters, the TKU Alumni Association and its members have contributed and achieved outstanding accomplishments in all walks of life. The University has set up the Office of Alumni Services and Resource Development, a unit dedicated to integrating all alumni services. The TKU has helped strengthen the friendship among the alumni by setting up association chapters both locally and internationally, providing alumni with access to professional licensing courses, promoting collaboration between the TKU and alumni businesses, setting up an on-line platform that provides information on TKU graduates, and conducting various surveys to elicit feedback from TKU alumni. Whether tangible (such as financial donations) or intangible (such as positive feedback, word-of-mouth), their contributions to their alma mater are invariably the most important support and driving force for TKU’s development.
 
Every year, the “Alumni Spring Festival”' and “Homecoming Day” activities draw thousands of alumni to the TKU for large celebrations that allow alumni to maintain their bond with each other and with their alma mater. The alumni travel thousands of miles from various regions of the world, including the U.S., Canada, and Mainland China -- to visit their alma mater and take part in seminars, where they share their experiences in academia or the workplace with current TKU students.
 
The TKU’s efforts and achievements have received positive feedback and wide support from TKU alumni, all of whom bear one common goal: “to pool together the resources of TKU alumni and to bring honor to TKU and all Tamkangians." Apart from these activities, every two years TKU also holds a conference for TKU alumni associations. The event has successfully helped to strengthen the bond among all Tamkangians in various countries throughout the world.


Features of Fund-Raising Drive: 

​The Tamkang University Fund-Raising Committee was founded on January 6, 1993, while the Alumni Liaison Section was founded under the office of Secretariat on August 1, 1993, with the function of fund-raising as its main duty. The Fund-raising Committee Section was founded on August 1, 1995, and since then a larger scale of fund-raising drive was launched with the additional participation of the faculty, alumni, and supporters in business circles. The donators are entitled to designate particular purposes of the donated sums, such as purchasing specific equipment or holding seminars and conferences.
